This week’s blog is all about the kitchens in our Daytona apartments. Our community is filled with students that work part-time jobs and engage in extracurricular activities, leaving them little time to cook homemade meals. Ordering in every night is convenient, but it will wreak havoc on your wallet and your health.
With that in mind, we’ve decided to share a few tips that will help you learn to love the kitchen in your Daytona apartments. The hope is that the more you like your kitchen, the more you’ll enjoy cooking.
No, we’re not going to tell you to buy expensive appliances or deep clean your kitchen every two days — you just have to have the right equipment and ingredients in your kitchen so that you’re comfortable when you cook.
Take a look at the list of tips below, and please be sure to share this blog post with your friends and neighbors at your community of apartments in Daytona!
TIp #1 — Bring your screens into the kitchen
The thing about cooking is that it takes time. When you order food, you get to keep studying while you wait for your meal to be ready. It is possible to be productive while you cook though — you just have to bring your tools into the kitchen. If you’ve got a tablet, great. If not, your laptop will work too. Bring your screen of choice into the kitchen and set up a mini-entertainment center. Invest in a Bluetooth speaker if you require high-quality audio Put a notepad down by your screen, or enable voice-no-notes on your device.
Now that you have this set up in your kitchen, you can listen to lectures, watch instructional videos, or rehearse presentations while you cook. This is a simple trick, but it will help you convince yourself to cook more often.
Tip #2 — Keep your spice cabinet stocked
If you don’t like the taste of your own cooking, it’s probably because you’re not adding enough seasoning or you don’t have the right combination of herbs and spices. It’s understandable that your spice cabinet would be lacking, as spices are usually the last thing anyone thinks about buying while they’re grocery shopping.
We don’t expect anyone to be an expert at finding the perfect combination of herbs and spices, but stocking your spice cabinet is the first step. Sure, you might throw the wrong combinations into the pan the first couple times and end up with inedible food, but practice makes perfect.
Tip #3 — Buy your kitchen something nice
Next time you’re at the department store, spend a little more time than usual in the kitchen goods section. If you see something that catches your eye, allow yourself to splurge on a new toy for your kitchen. Maybe you’ll buy a homemade spaghetti-maker, maybe you’ll invest in a juicer, or maybe you’ll splurge on a crockpot. It doesn’t matter what you buy, all that matters is that it gets you excited to get back in the kitchen.
Those are all the tips we’ve got for you this week, residents! We hope you’re able to put this advice to use, and that your kitchen becomes your new favorite room in the apartment.
